Part Six

It's so hot here. Just grass and grass and grass. We may see trees every once in a while were we rest in the shade for sometime. Some how I don't get how Mingi and Celes can wear those cloaks in this heat. At night it's really cool and refreshing.

I came from a place full of beauty and fruits. There are many kinds like me. Living on an island just south of Japan. We don't eat flesh, but we are very fond of the fruits that grow on the island. We don't know what these people call the island, but I call it home.

Where did that Aezundo come up with the name Taleko. Makes me sound like a pet that belongs to a little girl with a bow around my neck. I am very happy that Angel and Celes had rescued me. He is someone I could have easily defeated, but since he was hoping to meet Angel he told his gorilla guards to leave him alone. Now those are hard foes.

Sometime in the noon now, we're heading to the next village. Clouds then loomed over the sun. That's funny...I didn't see those dark clouds earlier. The middle of the cloud spiraled down before us as a man in armor soon appeared within the clouds. "Did you think you could get away with that spell old woman?" He held out his hand and a black ball formed and shot out and hit Mingi. She let out a scream and fell to the ground.

I barked and jumped at the armored man. Before I was able to attack he had back handed me throwing me down leaving a dirt trail behind me. Cecil stood in front of Celes protecting her. "Move boy!" The man yelled. When Cecil didn't move, the man started to form another black ball. Cecil then jumped with a kick but wasn't fast enough. The black ball hit Cecil throwing him as well. Kannuki held Mingi in his arms as Angel rose drawing her sword, sliding in front of Celes protecting her as well. I too rose shaking the dirt from my fur. Growling and about to attack, a lighting bolt then struck the ground forming a into a person.

A woman holding a staff then appeared. She wore a light blue robe with gold designed trims. Under the robe she a white dress. Her blonde hair was tied up in a pony tail. Her staff was pointed at the end and twisted up, the upper part spiraled with jewels spread apart there in the center of the spiral was a round ruby.

The woman chanted some words and pointed the staff to the armored man. Turning him and the cloud red and it disappeared in a mist blown away by the wind. The woman then walked before Mingi pulled some powder from her pouch that hung from hr belt around her waste. Sprinkled it over Mingi's wound and chanted some words as she did so. Mingi's body glowed and Mingi slowly blinked her eyes open.

Mingi then looked at the woman. "Who are you?" She asked.

"My name is Ledia, I am and arch mage." She bowed.

Celes then ran to Cecil and then carried him back with one arm around his waste and his around her shoulder. "Who was that?" I asked Celes. Everyone was so eager to protect her when the armored man appeared.

"That was Golbez," She said setting Cecil down. "He calls himself the master of darkness. He's been after me for years. Even though he knows I will never love him."

Ledia and Kannuki helped Mingi up. "That sword." Ledia said shocked.

Mingi pulled out her sword. "What about it?"

"the sword once belonged to my brother," She said pointing at the sword. "But when he died in a battle, my father placed a spell on it, that only the greatest of warrior may touch it."

"Well that explains most of the mystery." Mingi looked the sword over. "Where did you father put the sword?"

"He had given it to the kingdom of Lynns, a floating island that was once in Japan." She paused. "He put it in a stone hoping it would belong to a warrior with good deeds." She looked into Mingi's eyes. "Is that where you acquired the sword?"

"I don't know." Mingi put the sword away. "I was hoping to find out. But, what you said still doesn't explain much for me. Why would I got to the floating island?"

"I know very little about the sword as well," Ledia let her hand drop. "Father wouldn't talk much about it. I'm glad to see it in the caring hands of the good." She bowed.

Silence then came between us. "What brings you to these parts?" Kannuki asked breaking the silence.

"My father has told me, of a White-Mage Warrior that beholds my brothers sword." She pointed to Mingi. I know not where the temple is so I have traveled many miles. Now I have found the warrior."

"The temple is many miles from here." Mingi said leaning against Kannuki for support.

"I see..." Ledia bowed. "To where are you all headed?"

"Ling-Sho," I said. "Mingi and Angel are in search for their past."

"Well, I'll be happy to accompany you all if it's no bother." Ledia said eyeing us.

"I wouldn't mind." Angel said.

"She may come of use further on in our journey." Mingi said.

"Well...what Mingi said." Kannuki said shifting Mingi in his arms.

"Hey, nice to have you with us." Cecil waved.

"Welcome to the group." I bowed.

"What did you do to Golbez?" Celes asked.

"Oh, don't worry about him." Ledia shook her head. "I didn't kill him, he's only weakened for now. It may take him many weeks to regain his strength."

"Oh, thanks. It's great having that guy out of my hair for awhile." Celes said combing her fingers through her hair.

"Come on you guys." Mingi said. "We have a long way a head of us."

Kannuki then carried Mingi on his back. "Oh, geez Mingi, for someone so old you are as heavy as a hog."

"Please, Kannuki. No time for jokes. I'm still weak from that blow." Mingi said.

"All right, if you say so." Kannuki said.

We all continued our walk to Ling-Sho. From where we are we can see the beautiful skies of the village. It must truly be a beautiful place, with the sky so wonderfully blue. We all walked in silence, except for Mingi and Kannuki who kept arguing about Mingi's weight. You would think they would be a great couple if Mingi was about 20 years younger. By the looks of her, she seems to once be a very powerful warrior.
